Consultations

First consultations are 30 minutes long, allowing time for a thorough initial assessment and discussion of any problems and concerns. Standard appointments are 15 minutes.

We run by appointment times only, with the exception of emergencies. Should your pet need veterinary care when we are closed, please contact VidiVet who will be able to offer free advice or our out-of-hours provider Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.

Dentistry

We carry out all routine dentistry treatments, including ultrasonic descaling, dental X-rays and extractions where necessary. We have invested in the best veterinary dental equipment available for primary care work.

If more complex treatments are required we can refer to a dental specialist.

Pet Health Plans

Preventative health care ensures our pets are protected from a range of contagious diseases and parasites, giving them the best foundation for a long and happy life. Sage Vets clients can sign up to a Health Care Plan for their pet which includes:

Unlimited vet and nurse consultations

Annual Core Vaccinations

Flea, Tick & Worming Treatment all year round

Neutering

As well as preventing unwanted pregnancies, neutering can offer other health benefits for your pet.

Neutering cats is always recommended.

Timing (age) and breed are an important consideration when neutering dogs and is unnecessary for some male dogs. We can discuss the pros and cons of neutering during consultation.

Laparoscopic dog spays can be arranged on request with a specialist visiting soft tissue surgeon.

Medicine

We are able to carry out most medical work ups on site, except in rare cases where a specialist test or facility is required. We have a comprehensive range of diagnostic lab equipment available in our in-house laboratory, meaning we can often get same day results.

Should your pet need daytime hospitalisation during its time with us, we have newly built, dedicated cat and dog hospital wards. These have been made comforting with warm ambient lighting and soft music to reduce stress levels as much as possible.

Imaging

Our imaging facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound and echocardiography (heart ultrasound).

Imaging is one of the most helpful and frequently used tools to help diagnose and monitor certain conditions in your pet. For example, X-ray and ultrasound may be used to investigate orthopaedic fractures, abdominal bloating, foreign bodies, certain cancers and monitor conditions that affect internal organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys.

Out-of-hours

It is important to us that we provide you with 24/7 access to speak with a vet if your pet is unwell, therefore, we have partnered with VidiVet. Their experienced vet team can advise if you need to seek an emergency appointment, or whether you can wait to see us when we are next open. This service is free of charge.

Surgery

We perform a wide range of soft tissue and emergency surgeries in our purpose built theatre.

Soft tissue surgeries include neutering (spays and castrations), surgical biopsies, exploratory laparotomy and foreign body removal.

Orthopaedic procedures such as bone fracture repair, cruciate rupture and patella luxation correction can be performed by a visiting orthopaedic surgeon or can be referred to a specialist centre.

We have full surgical monitoring equipment including blood pressure, pulse oximetry, capnography and ECG. We also offer pre-anaesthetic blood screens and IV fluid support during any general anaesthetic.

Pet Travel

If you’re taking your pet on holiday or moving abroad, we can provide Animal Health Certificates and any necessary health checks, vaccinations or medications that may be required.
